The Fordham Sports Law Forum was created in 1996 and is a student run organization at Fordham University School of Law, consisting of approximately 100 members comprised of both day and evening students across all years of legal study.
The Forum hosts two major sports law events each Spring: our Sports Law Symposium, celebrating its 23rd year, and our National Basketball Negotiation Competition, in which schools from across the country compete. The Forum is fortunate to have many incredibly accomplished and generous alumni and friends who serve as speakers at our Symposium and judges at our negotiation competition. Over the years, notable participants include Michael Weiner, Executive Director of the MLB Players Association; Neil Pilson, former head of CBS Sports; David Feher, outside counsel to the NFL Players Association; Howie Roseman, General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles; Tim Brosnan, Executive Vice President of Major League Baseball; John Mara, President and CEO of the New York Giants, and Jessica Berman, Deputy General Counsel of the National Hockey League.
Additionally, the Forum sends teams to various sports law competitions around the country, including the Tulane National Baseball Arbitration Competition in New Orleans and the National Sports Law Negotiation Competition at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego.
Finally, the Forum maintains a regular blog on sports news in the legal world. This year, we are expanding our online publishing to include academic and scholarly work. If you are a practitioner or professor who has written a sports law article and would like the Forum to consider publishing it, please send it to email@example.com. We are not currently on Scholastica and we only accept direct submissions. Submissions should use the 20th Edition of the Bluebook for citations.
